Love song
Love is like rain gracefully and softly
Falling
On the scorched and arid landscape where the secret
Torments of our souls dwell
Soothing
Purifying
Reviving
Washing
Away our sorrows and pain
Leaving us refreshed
Love is like a cool breeze lightly and gently
Fanning
The sultry and sweltering terrain where our broken and
Anguished spirits reside
Cooling
Calming
Consoling
Allowing us to breathe
And our poor
Foolish
Hearts to sing and to
Love
Anew

This poem made me smile ear-to-ear. Mhmm, no wonder it always feels like spring when someone is newly in love, huh? Must be the Soothing, Purifying, Reviving, Cooling, Calming & Consoling effect it brings.
I also like how you laid out the words on the page. It’s a ‘well-packaged’ Love Song I’d say:)
…
Yes, it does feel like spring, akiey:) Thanks for the kind words. I am trying out new ways of writing and also trying to be more creative
You know I always feel that when it rains – not thunder and lighing- The gentle rains that wash away tensions, dirt and dust. Your poem brings back great memories
…
Indeed Uaridi – isnt love just wonderful? Memories – tell us more please;)
am not exactly a poet, but i do know somethin- that to write u must be in a certain state of mind-whether by inspiration or just by bein in the mood…my point is- u must be constantly in a joyous serene state of mind to come up with such poems. Am sure you are one of those people who make others feel good about themselves…and as much as u were referring about love i think you too must be …Soothing, Purifying, Reviving, Cooling, Calming & Consoling effect
and akiey is right the organisation of the poem was also stylistic

Thank you dear nephew for your kind words. At one point in my life, I named my alter ego ‘Serena’:) Serena had disappeared for a while but I am working hard to bring her back. I would love to be one of those people that make people feel good about themselves!
Love poems with accompanying graphics? Name him!!
Oh…and the poem is good too; though it is not similar it reminded me of the verse in Corinthians.
…
MJY! You rumour monger you!
Which verse in Corinthians?
aah, love…

Do you think there is something in the air, Wangari?
Great poem. Love is all that and more. I am sure you could write pages and pages but I feel you have chosen the words well. It does bring out that warm feeling, doesn’t it?

Thanks Kenyankukekamba. Indeed it does.
I’m a tad late on this. You know what? you got it-the poetry talent. Very neat work.
Ok, back to the love poem. Yesterday nite, for the very 1st time I watched/listened to an India Arie song(yes, am not fan of her, er..not, not a fan but just never listened to her..). Anyway, the song is-Purify. Your poem reminds me of that song totally. Lovely poem. Love well explained…
…
I like India Arie or at least some of her songs, Poi. I think Purify is a great song and I am honoured to be compared to her!
Had to come read this again, it’s that good:)) Keep experimenting with style, form…or whatever terms/tools wonderful poets like you use. Like I noted a loong time ago, you have a loyal following & you do inspire & entertain us in more ways than we could mention:)
…
I will keep on experimenting as long as people like you come here to tell me what you think. This is one of the greatest things about blogging – there are people out there to critique you and to inspire you. Thanks akiey for your lovely comment (as per usual).
Reminds me of the last time I fell in love. ooohh the memories!
